For example, the gap between the syringe plunger and the tube wall must be precise to the millimeter, which relies entirely on the mold's machining accuracy. The mold cavity and core must be mirror-polished to achieve a micron-level finish, ensuring an absolutely smooth surface on the molded product, free of any dead corners, thus eliminating bacterial residue and drug adsorption. The internal venting system of the mold must also be carefully designed to prevent trapped air or scorching, avoiding microscopic defects that could lead to breakage.
Secondly, material and production compliance is paramount. Molds must be compatible with the properties of medical-grade plastics (such as PP, PC, ABS, and COC). Every step, from steel selection to manufacturing, assembly, and trial molding, must be meticulously documented to ensure full traceability. Mold structure design must minimize the use of potentially contaminating elements such as hydraulic cylinders, and the ejection system must ensure stability to prevent scratches or stress-induced whitening of the product during ejection.
